Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring
The ILM
Coaching and Mentoring programme is for
anyone who is involved in using these skills to enhance performance in
the workplace. The qualification provides the key knowledge and
understanding, with an opportunity to develop the practical skills
within the workplace.
The
Certificate consists of:
- Induction lasting 2 hours
- Minimum 2 hours' tutorial guidance
- One 15-hour and one 6-hour module
- Six hours of practical coaching in the
workplace.
The
ILM Level 3 Certificate in Coaching for Team Leaders and First Line
Managers is designed for those team leaders and first line managers who
have responsibility for developing their team members. The focus of the
qualification is on using coaching as an improvement tool, helping team
leaders and first line managers to pass on their experience and
expertise to others.
Coaching, used properly, is a highly
effective way of helping individuals to develop their performance to
very high standards. Team leaders and first line managers who have
successfully completed an ILM Level 3 Coaching programme can feel
confident of their ability to coach professionally, and their employing
organisations can benefit from the effective and efficient use of their
time.
Mentoring and coaching can be powerful tools for
developing this leadership capability but only if the mentors and
coaches possess the high-level knowledge, skills and personal qualities
required to operate at this level. Leadership developers, consultants
and senior executives who have completed this programme will be better
able to act as mentors and executive coaches for senior managers and
others wishing to become more effective leaders.
Timescale
The ILM Level 3
Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring
will typically take from 2 weeks to a few months, although it can be
done over the course of a year.
Timescales are
flexible according to your
personal and professional needs. For example, a three-day intense
course can be followed by six hours of practical work the following
week, leading to completion within just two weeks.
Where do the
qualifications lead?
The main
purpose of the course is to improve
your performance which for some participants is an end in itself, but
it can also be a stepping stone to future personal development and
qualifications. including ILM's Level 5 Diploma in Coaching and
Mentoring.
Cost
The cost for
the full level 3 is £500 per student for a minimum
group of six, offered in-house anywhere in the East Midlands. The cost
for fewer students, off-site training or modular courses is negotiable.

Entry
Requirements
|
There
are no formal entry requirements, but
participants should be practicing or potential
first line managers and should normally have successfully completed a
programme leading to an
ILM Level 2 qualification in Team Leading or Level 3 qualification in
First Line Management, or equivalent, or have several years experience
of working in an appropriate role. |
ILM Membership
|
Those who achieve these awards are eligible to
apply for the minimum grade of Affiliate membership (AinstLM). The cost
of the first year's membership is included in the course fee.
